Waterproofing of tiles
In this photograph the rain is causing problems on a balcony with a tile floor. We waterproof tile floors such as this. This process normally entails improving the water flow by creating additional outlets for the water to flow away. When the grout can be removed it is scraped and cut out and then replaced with a waterproof grout.
In some instances we will use a silicon based waterproof sealant to treat the grout.
If the aforementioned options are not feasible the more expensive route of removing the tiles and screed has to be taken. (Treatment may not be feasible if there is visible cracks on the tiles and or when the tiles are not securely embedded - low moving.) A hyper creed - Polyfelt Membrane Waterproofing System is applied before the new tiles are laid
